Saint Anselm College is committed to authenticity, accessibility, and accuracy in its digital and print communications and branding. The Office of College Communications and Marketing is responsible for strategic marketing, communication, and public relations, telling the distinctive Saint Anselm story with consistent and effective brand voice. With generative Artificial Intelligence tools increasingly available, CCM shares the following guidance:
General
- AI may be used as a springboard for idea generation or first drafts when accompanied by professional editorial and design review and execution.
- While AI can be a helpful tool for brainstorming or “communicating a vision,” content and design for College print or digital communications should include review for brand and voice consistency.
Written Text
- AI may be used for research, idea generation, and/or to fix formatting. Professional expertise, branding guidelines, and college style should be applied before sharing internally and externally.
- When writing on behalf of the college, AI may not be used exclusively for speaking remarks, citations, publications, news stories, or social posts.
Photo and Video
- AI may not be used to alter photos or videos, infringe on copyright laws, or present misleading or incorrect information.
- AI may not be used to create an image that appears to be a photo without disclosing that it is AI-generated.
- AI may not be used to generate photorealistic representations of the College, students, faculty, staff, or members of the monastic community.
Logos, Graphics, and Images
- Using AI to create a logo or graphic to represent a department, office, or student group conflicts with the College’s trademark licensing agreement and may introduce copyright infringement risk.
- It is not recommended to use AI for image generation. Exceptions should carry this disclaimer: “This content is AI-generated and may not accurately represent the views of Saint Anselm College.”
Artificial Intelligence is an assistive technology that may be helpful in generating ideas and bringing efficiency to workflows, and requires transparency, human intervention and supervision to be most effective. For questions regarding the use of AI with content and visual elements, please consult the Office of College Communication and Marketing.
