Annual Stroke Symposium: Advancing Excellence Through Simulation and Clinical Practice

In Person

May 14, 2026
8:00 am EDT - 4:30 pm EDT
Location: Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Grappone Hall

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to apply current evidence-based strategies in stroke recognition, treatment, and post-event management while demonstrating enhanced clinical decision-making skills through participation in simulation-based stroke scenarios.

Program Description:

Join us for the Annual Stroke Symposium, an interactive day of education and simulation focused on improving stroke care and outcomes across diverse clinical settings.

Morning sessions will explore key aspects of stroke management, including neuroanatomy and ruptured aneurysms, types of strokes and their associated complications, and special considerations in pediatric and young adult stroke.

New this year, participants will take part in two immersive simulation sessions, choosing from five dynamic stroke scenarios in our state-of-the-art simulation labs. These case-based experiences—ranging from hemorrhagic stroke with seizure management to EMS response and angioedema post-TNK—offer opportunities to practice real-time clinical reasoning, teamwork, and communication in a safe, supportive learning environment.

The day will conclude with “What is Our Why?”, a powerful session highlighting the patient perspective and lived experience of stroke recovery.

Whether you’re new to stroke care or a seasoned provider, this symposium offers an engaging opportunity to deepen clinical knowledge, enhance team readiness, and renew your commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care.

Target Audience: This program is designed for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with stroke across the continuum—from prehospital and acute care to rehabilitation and recovery. It is particularly relevant for clinicians working in emergency, critical care, neurology, and EMS settings who seek to strengthen their assessment, communication, and intervention skills through hands-on simulation.
