The Department of Theology presents Dr. Jaisy A. Joseph, Assistant Professor of Systematic and Constructive Theology at the Department of Theology & Religious Studies at Villanova University, lecturing on "Pope Leo XIV and the Future of Synodality for a Global Church." Dr. Joseph’s lecture will call attention to the enormous historical undertaking of the Church’s Synod on Synodality (2021-2024), a matter of central importance to Pope Francis, and its future for a global church of 1.4 billion Catholics in the 21st century.
Dr. Joseph is an international expert on Ecclesiology who has presented lectures in the United States, Canada, Belgium, France, and India. She was a Syro-Malabar Archepiscopal Synod Delegate (2023-2024) and a Pastoral Council Member of the Archdiocese of Seattle (2020-2022). She was a delegate of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Convocation of Catholic Leaders in Orlando, Fla., in 2017.
