“Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right” - Laura K. Field, Ph.D.

In Person

March 9, 2026
4:00 pm EDT - 5:30 pm EDT
Location: New Hampshire Institute of Politics

Author and political theorist Laura K. Field, Ph.D. joins the Institute to discuss her book Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right, which examines how the political moment surrounding Donald Trump’s 2016 election reshaped the American conservative intellectual landscape.

Field argues that while Trump himself was not a traditional ideological thinker, his rise created space for a network of academics, public intellectuals, and influencers who have contributed to what she describes as the “MAGA New Right.”

Field will discuss what inspired her to write the book and provide an overview of the ideological radicalization that is shaping contemporary politics in American and around the world.

Following her remarks, Field will be joined by Peter B. Josephson, Professor of Politics at Saint Anselm College, for a moderated discussion.

This event offers an opportunity to better understand the ideas and assumptions shaping this emerging intellectual movement—and to reflect on its potential implications for the country’s political and civic landscape.

Books may be purchased in advance at your local bookseller or online. Book signing with the author to follow.
