The Hawks split their four-game series with Stonehill College to conclude Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division play. Saint Anselm has qualified for the NE10 Postseason and will await results from the final games across the league. The team will play on Tuesday, May 10 with the opponent and location still to be determined.

The Yellow Jackets fell to Pace University on May 3 to conclude their conference slate. With the loss, American International drops to 11-32 overall and 5-18 in NE10 Southwest Division play. The doubleheader at Sullivan Park will be the final games for the Yellow Jackets in the 2022 season.

Fans are reminded that Sullivan Park is a pet-free facility and no alcoholic beverages are permitted at the facility.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • Graduate student Salvatore Pezzolla(East Greenbush, N.Y.) led the Hawks with five hits in the four-game series against Stonehill, batting .385. Pezzolla was tied with junior Brady Doran(Greenville, S.C.) with four runs batted in.
  • Doran scored a team-high four runs in the series with the Skyhawks while recording four hits, two of which went for extra bases. Senior Kyle Maurice(Exeter, N.H.) tied Doran with four hits in the series.
  • Maurice leads the Hawks with a .384 batting average on 56 hits in 146 at-bats. He is tied for the league lead with 11 home runs and ranks eighth with 40 runs batted in. Maurice has also scored 41 runs in 2022 which is sixth most in the NE10. The senior's 11 home runs this season are tied for third most in a single season in program history.
  • Junior Mike Borrelli (Salisbury, Mass.) is batting .317 with 45 hits which is tied with Pezzolla for second on the team. Borrelli and sophomore Nolan Elmore(Brentwood, N.H.) rank second on the Hawks with seven home runs each.
  • Pezzolla has driven in 33 runs for the Hawks while Doran follows closely with 32.
  • Sophomores Matthew Michel(Haverhill, Mass.) and Will Hunter(Middleton, Mass.) recorded wins for the Hawks against the Skyhawks. Michel allowed five hits in six shutout innings of work while Hunter allowed two runs, one earned on five hits in six innings.
  • Freshman Adam Betty(Lowell, Mass.) leads the staff with 10 starts while Hunter has made 13 appearances. Junior Avery Mosseau(Bedford, N.H.) has made 12 appearances this season, all in relief. Betty leads Saint Anselm with 54.1 innings pitched this season. Junior Dylan Bedder(New Providence, N.J.) has fanned a team-high 53 batters.
  • Saint Anselm has hit 45 home runs this season which is tied for the most in a single season, joining the 2001 team. On the season, the Hawks have score 276 runs which is third most in team annals. The team has 245 runs batted in which is fourth most. With three RBIs, the team can surpass the 2002 team for third most.
  • The 2022 squad becomes just the sixth team in program history to reach 20 wins in a single season. The 2012 team was the last squad to hit at least 20 wins in a single season. Saint Anselm's 13 conference wins are the most since 2012 as well.

SCOUTING AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

  • Angel Mendez and Kiernan Caffrey lead the Yellow Jackets offense with .352 and .344 batting averages this season. Mendez has 45 hits, 32 runs, and 10 doubles all of which lead the squad.
  • Caffrey follows closely with 43 hits and nine doubles to rank second on the squad. Mendez and Caffrey are tied for second on the team with two home runs each.
  • Chad Lavelle leads American International with 29 runs batted in. He ranks second on the team with 30 runs scored this season and has a team-high three triples with a .287 batting average.
  • Dalton Quinn has hit a team-high five home runs and is tied for second on the team with 21 runs batted in.
  • Joe Oliver leads the NE10 with 19 pitching appearances this season. Oliver has a 6.95 earned-run average and a 1-3 record for the Yellow Jackets.
  • Mason St. Pierre has made eight starts to lead the Yellow Jackets starters this season. He is 3-5 with a 6.83 earned-run average in 56.2 innings pitched. St. Pierre has struck out a team-high 39 batters this season.
  • The Yellow Jackets defense is operating at .938 this season, committing 95 errors in 1,524 chances.

ALL-TIME vs. AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

  • Upon conclusion of the doubleheader, the Hawks and Yellow Jackets will have met 83 times. American International is 45-35-1 against Saint Anselm all-time.
  • The programs battled four times to open the 2021 season with a pair of doubleheaders from the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. Saint Anselm took three of four games in that series.
  • This will be the first time the Yellow Jackets come to the Hilltop since Apr. 6, 2013 which was a doubleheader split. American International won the opening game a 3-0 score before Saint Anselm closed the twinbill with a 3-2 win.
