Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program

Students interested in a profession in medical laboratory science, may be attracted to the VA New England Healthcare System’s (VAMC) Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program.

This opportunity provides Saint Anselm students and graduates with the necessary education to obtain a professional certification and position as a medical laboratory scientist.

Through this program, students will have access to an in-demand health profession, offering a blend of purpose, science and impact into their post-collegiate career. Students will learn best practices for analyzing laboratory results, how to showcase ethical behavior, and build an understanding of research design to provide improved care and patient experience. The MLS Program provides clinical and didactic training, enabling participants to be an engaged team player and deliver great service to veterans in their community.

Students can complete the MLS Program in just under a year, beginning in September and ending in July. To be eligible for the MLS Program, you must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Have graduated from an accredited college/university with less than 10 years since completion or have completed three years or 90 semester hours at an accredited college/university and be eligible for a bachelor’s degree
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Pass pre-employment screening and security checks
  • Be able to complete 11 months of continuous training from September to July


Eligible alumni and students are encouraged to apply. Prospective applicants must meet all academic and prerequisite qualifications required by VAMC to be accepted into the program.
