Join us for a powerful evening featuring Jared Buchanan, a Marine veteran, mental health advocate, and ultramarathon runner, and Beautifully Broken director Daniel Herzog. The documentary follows Jared’s journey after losing his father, a police officer, to suicide and explores how his experiences in the Marine Corps, endurance sports, advocacy, and service helped him transform profound grief into purpose. The evening will begin with a keynote and conversation with Jared and Daniel, followed by a screening of the film and an audience question-and-answer session.
Daniels Bio:
Daniel Herzog is a director and documentary filmmaker with more than 20 years of experience in film and commercial production. Over the course of his career, he has directed hundreds of commercials, short films, branded productions, and lifestyle documentaries for a wide range of clients. His work also includes nearly two decades as a photographer and creative producer with Moscow Ballet, contributing to national campaigns and productions across the country.
Daniel’s career spans documentary, commercial, and branded filmmaking, with an emphasis on cinematic storytelling and authentic human stories. His previous documentary work includes the award winning, The Bear’s Den, as well as the award-winning craft beer documentary series Art of the Can.
His latest feature documentary, Beautifully Broken, explores grief, mental health, PTSD, and suicide prevention through the journey of ultra-endurance athlete Jared Buchanan. The film reflects Daniel’s approach to filmmaking: telling difficult stories with honesty and restraint while using film to create connection and move important conversations forward.
