The \nfour courses can be taken in any order.\n\n*DESCRIPTION:* This innovative online certificate program is designed to \nexplore the various components necessary to develop and run simulation \nscenarios within an academic or clinical setting.\n\n*WHO: *Any nurse practicing in an education role who is interested in \ndeveloping or working in a simulation program. This would be applicable to \nnurse educators in academia or healthcare facilities, preceptors, mentors, or \nstaff nurses who are interested in learning more about this teaching \npedagogy.\n\n*WHY:* The content will provide the nuts and bolts of simulation to include \nhow to assess educational needs, develop, implement and evaluate simulation \nexperiences.\n\n*WHAT*: In order to receive this 60-hour certificate (equal to 60 contact \nhours), completion of the four modules is required. Each module is 15 contact \nhours and is taught in an online format: 6 hours virtual live webinar, 9 \nhours online utilizing discussion boards and case studies, and required \nreading over the course of 4 weeks in an asynchronous manner.\n\u00a0\n\n*Module 4: Trends in Healthcare and Use of Simulation to Impact Patient \nOutcomes*\n\n\/Topics\/: Topics include: evaluation instruments, current research and trends \nin outcomes, trends in simulation, utilization of resources.\n\n\/Learning Outcome\/: \u00a0Upon successful completion of this module, the \nparticipant will be able to discuss the important components of simulation \ndesign and important aspects to consider for simulation scenario \nimplementation in both the hospital and academic settings.\n\n\/Agenda for Live Day\/\n\n * Session 1: Historical underpinnings and components of the NLN\/Jeffries\n Simulation Theory and the INACSL Standards for Best Practice: Participant\n Assessment & Evaluation. (120 min)\n * Session 2: Valid and reliable tools used to measure outcomes of a\n simulation: Grundy\u2019s Confidence Scale, Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric,\n Satisfaction with Simulation Experience Scale, Satisfaction with Cultural\n Simulation Experience Scale, The Indiana Simulation Integration Rubric for\n Measuring IP Communication, The Modified Simulation Effectiveness Tool, &\n The Creighton Competency Evaluation Instrument (90 min)\n * Session 3: Development of a systematic evaluation plan for one\u2019s\n simulation program while keeping in mind educational and patient care\n outcomes (patient safety\/preventable harm, EBP bundles, EBP tools for\n measurement).
