What brought you to the Hilltop as a student?

It’s actually a funny story: I found the college through admission materials and was drawn to Alumni Hall, and all the vines that were growing on it. I decided to tour immediately after. It was pouring rain, and I had just had the flu, but even in the midst of all those conditions, I could see myself here, and it felt like home. Once I got to meet the professors and it was time for orientation, it really solidified my decision. If I could go back now, I would.

What were you involved in during your time at Saint Anselm College?

I was heavily involved in both the music program and the Anselmian Abbey Players. I was a Music major, and I also did my work study job with the Fine Arts Department where I copied sheet music. In the Abbey Players, I was the director of props, and my last two years I was the director of public relations, handling all of the t-shirts and flyers. I loved being in the Dana Center for the Performing Arts, that's where you would find me every day.

What does your current job involve?

I work with Boys and Girls Clubs of Hartford, Conn., where we are the first branch of Boys and Girls Clubs in the United States. At my site, I am in charge of running all of the programming related to STEM, as well as education. We do this thing called the Power Hour Program which is an hour worth of academic activities where they can earn points and redeem for prizes. We try to make education fun because our whole focus is helping them to continue their education and encouraging them to become well-rounded individuals. The kids are truly the reason I am here.

How do you think Saint Anselm has prepared you for the postgrad world?

I believe that all of my leadership opportunities at Saint Anselm prepared me for my job now. Between Abbey Players and roles I had as a Music major, Saint Anselm gave me the opportunity to be a part of something bigger and create those experiences for myself. The professors I worked with guided me through everything, even years after I graduated.

As a student, what was your favorite thing to do on campus?

Hanging out in the C-Shop and getting the gluten-free chicken tenders.
