“I am delighted to honor Stacy with this award,” said Burns. “I cannot say enough about the significance of her contributions to our understanding of history and humanity, and the joy of collaborating with her.”

English Professor Gary Bouchard, executive director of the Gregory Grappone Humanities Institute, said the award was created to honor Burns’s renowned career in filmmaking and history. “We want to celebrate individuals who, like Ken, challenge conventional thinking around the shared human experience and its intersection with history, art, and culture.”

“Ken raises the bar to a new level for all of us,” Buchard continued. “With each visit to campus, he expands our thinking around history’s relevance today…Interrogating the past to live better lives today and help shape a better future—this is exactly the kind of engagement the Grappone Institute aims to foster.”
