As Saint Anselm begins the 2023-24 academic year, seven new full-time faculty members have joined the college and are excited to start their journey on the Hilltop.

Hilary Childs

Professor Childs has joined the full-time Clinical Faculty team in the Nursing Department after earning her B.S.N. from Saint Anselm College in 2011 and her M.S.N from Rivier University in 2023. She brings a wide range of expertise to the college as she has worked in hematology-oncology, hospice, inpatient oncology, outpatient infusion, triage, and is certified in chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration. Professor Childs has been teaching clinical part-time since 2019, and will be teaching Transitions to Professional Practice and clinical for Adult Medical Surgical Nursing here at Saint Anselm College. She is very excited to be a part of the program that she loved so much, and to help contribute to the future of nursing.

Professor Follo joins the Biology Department as an assistant professor after receiving her Master’s Degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Secondary Education in Biology. She has previously taught biology in both public schools (7-12) and colleges in various topics such as General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Anatomy for Artists, and Environmental Science. At Saint Anselm, Professor Follo will be teaching and Physiology for Nursing, and Physiology I, and Exercise Physiology. She is very excited to join the Anselmian community and to make an impact on the educational lives of students.

Nicole Hruban
Assistant Professor of Practice, Department of Economics and Business

Professor Hruban has joined the Economics and Business Department as an associate professor of practice. She has received her Ph.D. from Southern New Hampshire University in International Business with a concentration in International Finance, her M.B.A. from Syracuse University, and her B.A. from the University of Applied Sciences in Germany. She has previously taught a wide range of classes including Introduction to Business, Applied Statistics for Business Intelligence, and Managerial Finance. While here at Saint Anselm, Professor Hruban will be teaching Operations Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Managerial Finance, and she hopes to foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

Helen Markewich

Professor Markewich joins the Biology Department as an assistant professor. She has earned her B.S. in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in Animal Science from Cornell University. She has worked as a field scientist, a manager of water quality, as well as a laboratory operations and safety specialist and assistant teaching professor at Northeastern University. Professor Markewich will be teaching General Biology for majors, Microbiology, and will be an internship facilitator for the Biology Department. While at the Hilltop, she is most looking forward to being a part of the immense hands-on and experiential learning opportunities that Saint Anselm offers.

Professor Potter joins Saint Anselm College as an assistant professor of communications. He has received his B.A. in Creative Writing from Saint Lawrence University, and a M.S and Ph.D. in Media and Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has worked as a journalist, music critic, editor, and manager of marketing and communications. Professor Potter teaches Introduction to Mediated Communication, Media Writing, and Social Media Theory. He is very excited about getting to know his students through music, movies, and other media, and spending time on our beautiful campus.

Jesse Saywell

Professor Saywell has joined the English Department as an assistant professor having received his B.A. from American University in Musical Theatre Performance and his M.F.A. from the University of Arizona in Theatre with a concentration in Dramatic Writing. He has worked as an actor, director, and playwright with his latest play, “Dignity,” having premiered in early 2023. Professor Saywell will be teaching Beginning Acting, Beginning Directing, Musicals of the 1960’s, Exploring Race Onstage, and Beginning Playwright. As the new Director of the Abbey Players, he is very excited to get to work on the upcoming production of “Clue” and sharing it with the Saint Anselm community.

Courtney Urlage
Clinical Nursing Faculty, Department of Nursing

M.S.N., University of Hartford

Professor Urlage joins the Clinical Faculty after earning her B.S.N. from Quinnipiac University in 2018 and her M.S.N. in Nursing Education from the University of Hartford in 2023. She has previously worked at Hartford Hospital for four years in cardiothoracic surgery and for Aya Healthcare as a travel nurse for one and a half years. She will be teaching clinical at Southern New Hampshire Medical Clinic as well as Health Assessment Practice Labs, Open Labs, and Simulation Labs. Professor Urlage is most excited to get to know the faculty and students, and have a part in the decision making process for the labs that will be in the new nursing building.
