Housing Assignment and Waitlist Kickstart Support (HAWKS) is a routine part of Saint Anselm’s Housing Selection process each year. This placement process occurs after the Spring Selection process and is a collaboration between all students that were unable to select a space and our Residence Life and Education Professional Staff. Students potentially would not be able to select housing in the spring due to not creating a full roommate group to fit a space, choosing to be placed with a random roommate over the summer, or there is limited availability of their preferred room type. Our staff works with students to place them for housing for the fall. Typically, most students will be assigned in July as spaces become available through our cancellation process.

If a student completed their housing deposit by the advertised deadline, they are guaranteed housing for the Fall. Each year, the college calculates the number of students who will not return to Saint Anselm. This attrition rate is part of our calculation of eligible residential students. We anticipate a number of cancellations due to a student's decision to study abroad, commute, graduate early, etc. and manage available space through HAWKS.

Typically, 30% of the rising sophomore class will be placed through the HAWKS Placement program. Although rising juniors and seniors are also placed through HAWKS, the class that is most impacted is the rising sophomore class. Keeping roommates together is a priority of this program. When possible, RLE staff works to honor and house compatible students together through their roommate matching profile. Residence Life Staff will communicate with all students that will be placed through HAWKS via their Saint Anselm email and request they complete a room preference form in late May. Our office will offer housing assignments as cancellations are processed. The majority of the assignments will be offered in July as many of our cancellations are completed in late June.
