Each Friday, during the college common hour, the Humanities Institute hosts an open, informal discussion led by a member of the Saint Anselm faculty, staff or monastic community. This forum invites people from all parts of campus to come together with others who are willing to open their lunch bag and their mind to a question about our humanity. A Zoom Link will be provided weekly for those wishing to take part remotely. This week’s event will be hosted by Professor Amy Rohlfing, Biological Sciences Department and Owen Bland, '26.

Dr. Daniel Doña is concluding his Saint Anselm College residency with a viola recital. Dr. Doña will present a program featuring repertoire written by Filipinx composers Nicanor Abelardo and 2025 Pulitzer Prize-winner Susie Ibarra.
Abelardo is best known for his kundiman, a genre that is best described as Filipino art song and that informed his musical output throughout his life. Susie Ibarra’s modern take on kundiman is highlighted in “Pasig River,” excerpted from Ibarra’s new song cycle, CHAN: Sonnets and Devotions in the Wilderness, commissioned and premiered in Berlin by Maerz Musik Berliner Festspiele and produced with her fellowship in music and sound with the DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst.
The program will also feature music by Elliot Carter, Rebecca Clarke, and Arnold Bax. Dr. Doña will be joined by Victor Cayres on piano and Saint Anselm violin and viola professor Heather Braun-Bakken on violin.

The 13th Annual Hospice and Palliative Care Conference, Conveying Care While Meeting Practice Challenges, offers an essential opportunity for clinicians and interdisciplinary care teams to deepen their skills and refresh their understanding of the complex issues that shape today’s hospice and palliative care landscape. This year’s program addresses both the practical and relational aspects of care—recognizing that providers must balance regulatory requirements, challenging clinical presentations, and sensitive family dynamics while maintaining compassion at the forefront.
The conference opens with a keynote session centered on the theme of conveying care amidst operational and emotional challenges. Additional sessions explore critical topics such as GIP documentation and Medicaid reimbursement, best practices in patient symptom management, legal considerations affecting hospice providers, and the lived experiences of families navigating serious illness and end-of-life care. Throughout the day, participants will engage in discussions, networking, and shared problem-solving aimed at strengthening both competence and confidence in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
This program equips attendees with practical strategies, regulatory insights, and a deeper understanding of the patient and family experience—supporting clinicians as they navigate increasingly complex care environments with professionalism, empathy, and clarity.
This conference is designed for: Hospice nurses, palliative care nurses, and long-term care nurses, Nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists working in hospice and palliative care, Social workers, counselors, case managers, and bereavement professionals, Chaplains, spiritual care providers, and interdisciplinary team members, Hospice administrators, educators, and compliance professionals, Home health professionals who encounter hospice or palliative care needs, Any healthcare professional involved in caring for individuals with serious illness or supporting families through end-of-life transitions
