A Time for Change: The 7th Annual Housing We Need Roundtable Forum

December 13, 2024
10:00 am EST - 2:30 pm EST

By invitation only

New Hampshire, like many states nationwide, has grappled with an affordable housing crisis for years. During the 2024 elections, the housing shortage took center stage on national, state, and local platforms. Now, with the elections behind us, we stand at a pivotal moment for transformative action: newly elected leaders occupy key state and local positions, public and business support for expanded housing has reached record levels, and there is broad bipartisan recognition of the urgent need for real solutions. New Hampshire is poised for change.

Join New Hampshire’s newly elected leaders at the 7th Annual Housing We Need Roundtable Forum, hosted by the Center for Ethics in Society at Saint Anselm College. Together, we’ll hear stories of the housing crisis, explore fresh opportunities, prioritize solutions for 2025, and celebrate the recipients of the Home Matters Leadership Awards. Attendees will include state and local leaders, planners, developers, policy-makers, advocates, homeless service providers, housing financiers, property managers, real estate experts, business leaders, and more.

Lunch is provided.

And Now I see: Race, Racism, and American Music presented by Ball in the House

February 28, 2025
8:00 pm EST - 10:00 pm EST

This show explores African American music, from Spirituals, Gospel, and Jazz to Soul, Hip-Hop, and R&B by demonstrating where each style came from and why, as well as the cultural/social evolution of these styles and their influences and connect them to the contemporary styles of today. This is done through stories and musical examples, all done in Ball in the House’s signature a cappella style. The show celebrates the enormous influence of African American music and musicians, but also delves into how racism affected these musical styles in general and how it affected specific musical artists.

A Double Inheritance: War and the White House

When one thinks of an inheritance money, large houses, or family heirlooms usually come to mind. However, for Acting Presidents Harry S. Truman (D), and Gerald R. Ford (R), their inheritance was the highest office in the country, and finishing two of the deadliest conflicts in American history: World War Two, and the Vietnam War.

Annual Statewide Survey of Voter Attitudes on Affordable Housing

What do New Hampshire voters think about the affordable housing crisis? Since 2020, the Center for Ethics in Society has administered an annual statewide poll of voter attitudes on affordable housing. While every year has seen an increase in the percentage of voters who support the development of more affordable homes, the most recent poll in 2023 saw dramatic changes in the pro-housing direction.
