NURSING


The need for Saint Anselm nurses has never been greater. Our nurses are competent, confident, and compassionate. They’re highly skilled, ethical problem solvers well-prepared to care for patients across the lifespan and in all health care settings.

Our nurses are prepared for entry-level positions in a variety of healthcare settings and graduate programs. Alumni practice in some of the best hospitals in the world and have risen to positions of leadership in hospital administration, nursing education, and the military.

  • Nursing courses begin the spring semester of a student’s first-year
  • Student nurses start clinical rotations spring semester of sophomore year
  • Our critical care course clinicals place students in intensive care units (ICUs) and Emergency Departments (EDs)
  • Mental health concepts are integrated throughout the curriculum in addition to the mental health course

This new state-of-the-art facility is home to the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Estimated to be 45,000 square feet in size, the facility includes a public health community space, an 11,000 square foot simulation center, and more.

Clinicals

You’ve done all the reading and completed your labs; now find out what it’s like to work side by side with a nurse in the field through clinical rotations. As a student nurse you will always participate in a nursing lab prior to providing patient care in a clinical setting.

  • All specialty nursing courses include clinical rotations
  • The student to instructor clinical ratio is 7:1 or less
  • Clinicals are completed in variety of settings
     

Preceptorship

195 Hours
1:1 student to instructor ratio
All graduates complete a 195-hour preceptorship. You may complete the experience in the summer before senior year, during winter break, or in the spring semester of senior year. Opportunities are in New Hampshire and throughout the New England area in a variety of clinical settings.
 

Facilities

In Gadbois Hall, you’ll find faculty offices, four laboratories, and multiple classrooms. You’ll learn everything from how to do a head-to-toe assessment to use an IV pump to caring for a patient with a spinal injury.

Equipment includes:

  • Multiple Adult Advanced Patient Simulators
  • Birthing Patient Simulator and Child Patient Simulator
  • Multiple Adult, Child, and Infant Patient Manikins
  • Pyxis Medication Administration Dispensing Machine
  • Functional Head Walls
  • Electronic Smart Pumps for IV therapy
  • Defibrillator, Ventilator, and EKG Machines
