On Wednesday, April 30th, Saint Anselm College hosted its first annual Spring Arts Showcase in the Koonz Theater of the Dana Center.

This event, spanning the course of a couple hours, highlighted a number of students whose studies focus on the arts. The event included music and dance performances, highlighted the works of graphic design and studio arts majors, and showcased performances from a handful of theatre minors.

One of the many highlights of the evening were the enthralling performances done by the Dance majors and minors on campus. Of these, a couple standouts included a performance to “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson choreographed by Alyssa Babineau ’28 and a tap performance to “Rockit” choreographed by Professor Aaron Tolson.

The event also included multiple performances from various faculty members. Among these were renditions of the French folk songs “Revellez-vous” and “Le Rossignol” with Professor Erin Smith Davis on vocals and Professor Francesco Barone on guitar and “Memphis Lives in Me” from Memphis with Professor Jesse Saywell on vocals and Professor Molly Lozeau on piano.

Lozeau excitedly described how she and other arts faculty members planned the event with the goal of showcasing the talent of the students to the community both on and off campus.

“The turnout in the audience was very good in the student population,” says Lozeau, “I saw bunches of people standing in groups and chatting after the show was over, which I love to see.”

The first Spring Arts Showcase at Saint Anselm College was immensely successful in displaying some of the incredible talent on campus and is certainly the first of many of its type in the years to come.
