On April 30, six students were inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the national honor society for physics. To be considered for nomination candidates must be in the upper one-third of their class and must have completed at least three semesters of full-time college work and at least three semester courses in physics that can be credited toward a physics major.
The Saint Anselm College students inducted in the 2020-2021 academic year were:
- Seth Adams ’22, physics major
- Hannah Chapman ’23, physics and secondary education double major
- David Coderre ’22, natural science major
- Arthur Coy ’22, engineering physics major
- Lili Gately ’21, natural science and environmental science double major
- Emma Goulet ’23, physics major
At the same ceremony, physics major Derek Chisholm ’22 was given a Society of Physics Students Outstanding Service Award “for playing a critical role in starting our chapter of the Society of Physics Students, helping to ensure and improve the department’s sense of community, encouraging the academic and social development of new students, and being a cornerstone of the department,” says Physics Professor Nicole Gugliucci, Ph.D.
Sigma Pi Sigma, was founded in 1921 at Davidson College, N.C., as a member honor society of the Association of College Honor Societies. Today the society has some 90,000 historical members.
