How did you choose to the Community and Public Health major?

I’ve always had a passion for helping people and improving my community. When Saint Anselm announced the program, I switched my major as I knew it would be the right fit for my interests, and gained knowledge to help others create and maintain healthy lifestyles as well as prevention mechanisms and policy and advocacy techniques.

What was your favorite course you took at Saint Anselm?

Although I enjoyed all of the courses, I would say my favorite was Medical Ethics with Professor Marc Rugani. I found this course to be extremely helpful as well as insightful in guiding the work of individuals in the healthcare field. I gained a deeper understanding of the meaning between right and wrong and always striving to promote the common good in all situations.

Name a time when you felt most supported by the Anselmian community.

Throughout my time at Saint Anselm, I felt continuous support all four years. However, a time that stood out to me was spring semester of senior year when we were completing our thesis work. Every professor was always willing to meet and go the extra mile to ensure I understood the assignments at hand and was on the right track to success. With a difficult assignment like a senior thesis, having the support from multiple professors helped tremendously.

What resources on campus would you recommend to a first-year student?

I would recommend first year students use the Academic Resource Center (ARC), and all of the library resources available. I would also recommend reaching out to individual professors and utilizing study groups.

What was your favorite Saint Anselm tradition?

My favorite Saint Anselm tradition was the Christmas Feast. This was such a special time of year where the whole community dressed up and gathered to celebrate the season of giving.

What were you involved in on the Hilltop?

I participated in various volunteering experiences through the Meelia Center for Community Engagement. I went on the Anselmian B.R.E.A.K. trip last winter to Kensington, Penn. I was also a student representative on the Strategic Planning Process Board for the new Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences.

How have your studies at Saint Anselm prepared you for your current role at NH Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency?

My background has prepared me for my current role as a program coordinator in many ways. Through my classes and internship, I fostered meaningful relationships and strengthened my personal and communication skills. In working with residency recruitment, my knowledge from ethics has helped me to strive to maximize the common good and minimize any harm. Working to always put the needs of our patients above all else, with an aim to best support the community-at-large.
