National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

  • Surveys first-year students and seniors in the spring.
  • Assesses students' educational experiences and co-curricular behaviors on ten Engagement Indicators and six High-Impact Practices in undergraduate education - those that engage students in the learning process. (e.g., reading, writing, presentations, research with faculty, discussions with individuals who differ from them).
  • Receives raw data, means, and frequencies and comparative results in August/September.

Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE)

  • Collects data from incoming First Year Students in the summer prior to their first semester
  • Surveys students about their academic and co-curricular experiences in high school and examines their expectations for the first year of college, especially behaviors related to engagement in the learning process.
  • Responses can be linked to the student NSSE responses.
  • Obtain data in September.

Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Consortium- Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey

  • Anonymous survey of students, faculty, and staff about:
    • Perceptions of campus climate
    • How diversity and equity are supported by the institution
    • Experiences with discrimination and harassment
  • Receive data, means and frequencies and comparative results for other HEDS institutions conducting the survey in September following survey administration.

Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Consortium- Sexual Assault Campus Climate Survey

  • Anonymous survey of students, or faculty, staff, and administrators about:
    • Perceptions of campus climate
    • How the institution responds to sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct
    • Experiences with sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct
  • Receive data, means and frequencies and comparative results for other HEDS institutions conducting the survey in summer following survey administration.

Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) Faculty Survey

  • Is a comprehensive survey to measure how faculty perceive institutional priorities, spend their time inside and outside the classroom, the goals and expectations faculty have for students, pedagogical strategies faculty use to engage students, sources of stress and satisfaction among faculty and other timely issues impacting faculty and administrators today.
  • Receive data, means and frequencies and comparative results for other private 4-year liberal arts colleges.

First Destination Survey

  • Gathers information about the primary activity (employment, continuing education, volunteer/service, etc.) of graduates at 6 months after graduation.
  • Data compiled in Spring.

 

Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Consortium- Alumni Survey

  • Alumni evaluate many of aspects of their undergraduate experience. The questions cover: academic experiences, development of skills and abilities, personal development, satisfaction with campus services, facilities, and climate, extra-curricular activities and their impact, employment after graduation, graduate degree attainment, leadership, and more.
  • Receive data, means and frequencies and comparative results for other HEDS institutions conducting the survey in summer following survey administration.
