English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Offered as a minor with licensure (K-12)

In the United States, 68 million people speak a non-English language at home.* It's a strength to be able to teach learners whose native tongue isn't English, and incredibly fulfilling to help students confidently learn the language. Specifically designed to pair with the Elementary Education major, earning an ESOL minor will help you gain further skills and experience in language learning environments. This area of study will prepare you for graduate studies and careers in a range of fields from education and international business to healthcare and public service.

Minoring in ESOL offers a different experience than being in a general education classroom. It was a really rewarding experience to help students develop their English skills.
