Matt Savage Quartet and James Fernando Trio

October 6, 2024
5:00 pm EDT - 7:30 pm EDT

Despite his young age and his autism, Matt attended the Berklee College of Music at the age of 17. Now at age 31 he is an accomplished musician, composer and a Saint Anselm College faculty member. He has released twelve albums as a solo performer, and as leader of the Matt Savage Trio. Since his teens he has performed with many greats including Chaka Khan, Wynton Marsalis, and Jackson Browne. To our stage he brings The Matt Savage Quartet composed of Zak King on drums, Mark Zaleski on saxophone and Greg Loughman on bass.

At the age of five, pianist and composer James Fernando began playing classical piano and now creates genre-broadening original music that lies at the intersection of jazz, classical, and electronica. Highly sought-after and award-winning, he is known for his technical prowess and textural sophistication. His experimental compositions are hailed for their ability to expand the sonics of the piano where the acoustic is augmented by electronic elements. He effortlessly articulates multiple layers and themes that flow clearly in grand, vibrant melodies while colorful, cutting-edge improvisation shines through.
