Empowering Women of New Hampshire

Saint Anselm College: 50 Years of Women's Education

Please join us to recognize 50 years of Women’s Education at Saint Anselm College as we welcome Jasmine Grace Marino from the Jasmine Grace Outreach program on Monday, April 8th, from 12:30-1:15 p.m. in room 105 of Gadbois Hall.  She will give a brief talk about the incidence of human trafficking in New Hampshire. The Jasmine Grace Outreach Program is dedicated to empowering women to move beyond exploitation.

We are also collecting feminine hygiene products to donate to this organization, and we welcome your donations. Donations can consist of: women's socks, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brushes, bars of soap, 12 oz of shampoo or conditioner, baby wipes, hair brushes, winter gear, chapstick, bags of trial mix, $25 gift cards (to: Walmart, Target, Market Basket, Shaws, Walgreens, Amazon, CVS, or gas cards), or notes of encouragement.

Feel free to bring your donation to the meeting on Monday April 8th or drop it into the laundry basket in Gadbois lobby.

Earth Day Fair

The Respect the Nest Committee and the Green Team are hosting Saint Anselm College’s first annual Earth Day Fair on Thursday, April 18th. The Fair will take place on JOA Quad/Campus Green and will feature 25+ different clubs, organizations, and academic departments all discussing how environmental initiatives and sustainability relate to and benefit their missions. The present organizations will be tabling with interactive activities for community members to participate in. There will also be free merch, various giveaways, and a plant based BBQ by AVI Dining Services.

Environmental Health Risks: Educating Our Patients and Ourselves about Climate Change Impacts

This interactive program will explore the intersection of nursing practice, planetary health, and environmental sustainability. The sessions will delve into crucial topics such as the impact of climate change on health, air quality, and water contamination. With case studies of vulnerable populations woven through the topics, the program will also include pollution prevention strategies for healthcare settings and educating our patients about preparing for extreme weather events.

Target Audience:
This webinar is idea for RNs, LPNs, NPs, Nurse Leaders and Managers and other healthcare professionals  seeking to expand their knowledge, skills, and strategies to address emerging environmental health challenges and promote sustainable equitable healthcare practices. It would also be beneficial for individuals working in public health, environmental science, social work, and emergency management  who are interested in collaborative approaches to address health and environmental challenges and  anyone passionate about promoting health, environmental sustainability, and resilience in the face of climate change-related health risks

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to recognize the impact of climate change on health, air quality, water resources, and discuss strategies for disaster preparedness, pollution prevention and patient education to protect vulnerable populations and promote health equity in a changing climate.
