Leadership and the Profession of Nursing is Module 1 of 4 towards the Advanced Nurse Leadership Certificate

This is a 4 week course that runs from February 13 - March 12 with a synchronous online day on February 13 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

This innovative online certificate program is designed to explore the various components to develop a nurse leader, whose goal is to enhance and empower oneself in advancing the future of the nursing profession.

This certificate program serves as an excellent preparatory course for the Certified Nurse Leader exam and certification.
 

Target Audience:

  • Any nurse who practices in a leadership role, including but not limited to, nurse educators, clinical nurse managers, charge nurses, supervisors and directors. Staff nurses with 5 yearsโ€™ experience interested in seeking a leadership role should consider this offering.
     
  • Each module will earn 15 Nursing Contact Hours. Each module can be taken individually. In order to recieve the certificate (60 contact hours), all 4 modules must be completed.
     
  • Each module begins with one virtual live webinar from 08:30am- 4:00pm. The remainder of the program is completed online asynchronously.

SEPTEMBER 11-OCTOBER 8, 2025

Module 3: Blending Mission and Margin: Business Skills for the Nurse Leader

September 11, 8:30 am-4:00 pm as virtual live webinar; remainder of program online. Topics include: system-based thinking, data management, financial implications of care, accountable care organizations
 

OCTOBER 23-NOVEMBER 12, 2025

Module 4: The Future of Nursing: Quality, Healthcare Policy, and Patient Outcomes

October 23, 8:30 am-4:00 pm as virtual live webinar; remainder of program online. Topics include: the role of leader in strategic leadership, IOM goals, patient outcomes, interdisciplinary care and patient satisfaction measures.

Overview of Simulation is Module 1 of 4 towards the Healthcare Simulation Educator Certificate

This is a 4 week course that runs from March 12 - April 8, with a synchronous online day on March 12 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Our innovative online certificate program is designed to explore the various components necessary to develop and run simulation scenarios within an academic or clinical setting.
 

Target Audience:

  • Any nurse practicing in an education role who is interested in developing or working in a simulation program. This would be applicable to nurse educators in academia or healthcare facilities, preceptors, mentors, or staff nurses who are interested in learning more about this teaching pedagogy.
     
  • Each module will earn 15 Nursing Contact Hours. Each module can be taken individually. In order to receive the certificate (60 contact hours), all 4 modules must be completed.
     
  • Each module begins with one virtual live webinar from 08:30am- 4:00pm. The remainder of the program is completed online asynchronously.

Module 3: Designing and Implementing Simulation Scenarios

Geisel Library hosts its 11th Annual Celebration of Research and Scholarship on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Faculty and staff who published works of scholarship and research during the 2024 calendar year will be recognized for their contributions to their fields. Three scholars will briefly discuss their research:

Students will read nearly 150 pages of selected Thomas Sowell writings in preparation for this colloquium.
