Trends in Healthcare and Use of Simulation to Impact Patient Outcomes is one module of 4 towards the Healthcare Simulation Educator Certificate

This innovative online certificate program is designed to explore the various components necessary to develop and run simulation scenarios within an academic or clinical setting. 

Target Audience: Any nurse practicing in an education role who is interested in developing or working in a simulation program. This would be applicable to nurse educators in academia or healthcare facilities, preceptors, mentors, or staff nurses who are interested in learning more about this teaching pedagogy. Each module will earn 15 Nursing Contact Hours. Each module can be taken individually. In order to receive the certificate (60 contact hours), all 4 modules must be completed. Each module begins with one Virtual live webinar from 8:30AM-4:00PM Remainder of program is completed online asynchronously.

The Cannabis Conversation: Updates for Nursing Practice

This program will provide participants with foundational knowledge about the Endocannabinoid System, the central nervous system effects of cannabis, and the role of cannabis terpenes in therapeutic outcomes. Topics will include cannabis delivery methods, short- and long-term effects, withdrawal symptoms, and potential drug interactions. Through expert-led sessions, participants will also learn how to support symptom management using cannabis and access reliable resources for continued learning.

Designing and Implementing Simulation Scenarios is one module of four towards a Healthcare Simulation Educator Certificate


DESCRIPTION: This innovative online certificate program is designed to explore the various components necessary to develop and run simulation scenarios within an academic or clinical setting.

WHO: Any nurse practicing in an education role who is interested in developing or working in a simulation program. This would be applicable to nurse educators in academia or healthcare facilities, preceptors, mentors, or staff nurses who are interested in learning more about this teaching pedagogy.

WHY: The content will provide the nuts and bolts of simulation to include how to assess educational needs, develop, implement and evaluate simulation experiences.

WHAT: In order to receive this 60-hour certificate (equal to 60 contact hours), completion of the four modules is required. Each module is 15 contact hours and is taught in an online format: 6 hours virtual live webinar, 9 hours online utilizing discussion boards and case studies, and required reading over the course of 4 weeks in an asynchronous manner.


DESIGNING AND IMPLEMENTING SIMULATION SCENARIOS

This module begins on October 1, 2025 and concludes on October 24th.

Topics: nursing education simulation framework incorporating roles of facilitator and participant, educational practices, simulation outcomes and design characteristics.

Learning Outcome: Upon successful completion of this module, the participant will be able to discuss the important components of simulation design and important aspects to consider for simulation scenario implementation in both the hospital and academic settings
