December 5, 2025
8:00 am EST - 3:00 pm EST

Participants will receive a comprehensive overview of common psychiatric diagnoses, frequently prescribed psychotropic medications, and evidence-based strategies for recognizing and managing behavioral issues in a variety of clinical settings. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of psychiatric and medical care, with real-world examples and interventions nurses can apply immediately to improve patient outcomes and enhance safety. The session will also focus on de-escalation techniques and communication strategies to support patients experiencing psychiatric distress.
Target Audience:
This program is intended for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and advanced practice nurses working in non-psychiatric settings such as medical-surgical units, emergency departments, long-term care, school health, ambulatory care, and home health, who seek to enhance their knowledge and confidence in caring for patients with co-occurring psychiatric and medical needs.
Learning Outcome:
After participating in this activity, the learner will be able to identify common psychiatric conditions and apply appropriate interventions, including de-escalation techniques and medication considerations, to safely manage behavioral health issues in non-psychiatric clinical settings.
