Earlier this week, President Joseph A. Favazza announced that Professor Carrie MacLeod Ph.D., APRN-BC ’83, current Director of Undergraduate Nursing, will serve as an interim dean of the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences following Dean Diane Uzarski’s departure on March 13, 2026.

“Dr. MacLeod’s deep familiarity with both the practice and administration of the field of nursing, her deep knowledge of other programs in the Jean School, and her wider involvement with College governance and policies will serve her well in this role,” shared Favazza in a message to the community.
MacLeod obtained her BSN from Saint Anselm College and an MSN and Ph.D. in Nursing Science from William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College. She has authored several book chapters, publications in academic journals, and co-authored two textbooks on aspects of cardiac care research. MacLeod has conducted nursing research funded by the Joyce C. Clifford Organization, NIH-INBRE, and NINR R01 since 2004. She has received many accolades throughout her prestigious career, including the Abbot Gerald McCarthy, O.S.B. ’36 Faculty Member of the Year Award by the Student Government Association in 2019.
Favazza congratulated MacLeod for helping with this significant transition, and he extended his gratitude to the Saint Anselm Community for its tremendous support through these eventful moments. As such, Professor MacLeod will work closely with Dean Uzarski in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth and effective transition. A permanent dean is expected to be in place summer 2026.
