Saint Anselm continues to launch new academic programs to prepare students for post-graduate success. The latest addition are six Anselmian Career Edge (ACE) Certificates providing students with practical career knowledge through courses strengthened by partnerships with leading employers. Certificates and partnerships cross industries and fields including business, healthcare, media, and fine arts.

ACE Certificates

Students earning an ACE Certificate complete three courses while also working with partner-employers; opportunities with employer-partners range from internships and panel discussions to guest lectures, networking events, facility tours, mock interviews, and more.

Employer-partners helped design the certificates with an eye to the specific kinds of knowledge and experiences that the organization would like to see from entry-level employees. Partners provided input in curriculum as well as the experiential learning component to benefit both groups.

ACE Certificates include:

“We’re seeing a lot of interest from students, faculty, and employers about these new certificates,” said Executive Director of Partnerships and PhilosophyProfessor Max Latona. “Our partners are eager to work with us and excited about connecting with students earlier in the students’ careers and in new, exciting ways.”

The College’s Career Development Center is also involved in the development and execution of these new programs and partnerships. Director Lauren Burrows emphasizes that the office is committed to helping students leverage this unique experience both on their resumes as well as how students market themselves for upcoming internships and post-graduate plans.

“As a result of earning an ACE Certificate, students will enter a workforce with skills, knowledge, and experiences that set them apart,” said Burrows. “Additionally, students will have the added value of recognizing areas of interest that they might not have known about ahead of the ACE Certificate.

Employers working with ACE include: Amoskeag Health, CBIZ, Diocese of Manchester, Elliot Health System, and WMUR.

“Amoskeag Health is very excited about the opportunity to partner with Saint Anselm College on helping students entering the healthcare field to be better trained to serve our increasingly cross-culturally diverse population,” shared Betsy Burtis, Amoskeag Health’s chief operating officer. “Our goal is to create experiences that are beneficial for students, Amoskeag Health staff, and especially for patients seeking healthcare. Together we are creating unique opportunities for students to practice Spanish-speaking skills in a health clinic and fostering a dialogue with multilingual healthcare providers about the benefits and challenges of working in healthcare.”

Partners are already scheduled to meet with students this academic year to share their experiences and provide their expertise. On Oct. 28, the Elliot Health Systems and Saint Anselm Office of Human Resources met with students during a panel event on “How HR Shapes the Future of Healthcare.” Jason Elliot, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Elliot Health System, is also scheduled to attend Professor Gigliotti’s upcoming Human Resource Management class. WMUR is talking with students about election coverage on Nov. 19. Additional events, guest lectures, and experiential learning opportunities are in the works as are new, unique certificates.

The Office of Partnerships at Saint Anselm is committed to fostering partnerships with external organizations that create meaningful and transformative opportunities for our partners, our communities, and the College.
