Upcoming Events

At the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to assess, differentiate, and manage common acute and functional gastrointestinal conditions using evidence-based pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic strategies.
Description: This full-day webinar provides nurses and nurse practitioners with a comprehensive overview of common gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. Participants will gain practical skills in performing thorough abdominal examinations, recognize acute and functional GI disorders, and explore evidence-based treatment strategies. The program will cover conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, GERD, diverticulitis, pancreatitis, and appendicitis. Emphasis will be placed on integrating both nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic management approaches, with interactive case studies to reinforce clinical decision-making.
Target Audience: Registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who manage patients with gastrointestinal complaints in inpatient, outpatient, or primary care settings. This program is suitable for clinicians seeking to enhance their assessment skills, clinical reasoning, and pharmacologic knowledge in GI care.

The 13th Annual Hospice and Palliative Care Conference, Conveying Care While Meeting Practice Challenges, offers an essential opportunity for clinicians and interdisciplinary care teams to deepen their skills and refresh their understanding of the complex issues that shape today’s hospice and palliative care landscape. This year’s program addresses both the practical and relational aspects of care—recognizing that providers must balance regulatory requirements, challenging clinical presentations, and sensitive family dynamics while maintaining compassion at the forefront.
The conference opens with a keynote session centered on the theme of conveying care amidst operational and emotional challenges. Additional sessions explore critical topics such as GIP documentation and Medicaid reimbursement, best practices in patient symptom management, legal considerations affecting hospice providers, and the lived experiences of families navigating serious illness and end-of-life care. Throughout the day, participants will engage in discussions, networking, and shared problem-solving aimed at strengthening both competence and confidence in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
This program equips attendees with practical strategies, regulatory insights, and a deeper understanding of the patient and family experience—supporting clinicians as they navigate increasingly complex care environments with professionalism, empathy, and clarity.
This conference is designed for: Hospice nurses, palliative care nurses, and long-term care nurses, Nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists working in hospice and palliative care, Social workers, counselors, case managers, and bereavement professionals, Chaplains, spiritual care providers, and interdisciplinary team members, Hospice administrators, educators, and compliance professionals, Home health professionals who encounter hospice or palliative care needs, Any healthcare professional involved in caring for individuals with serious illness or supporting families through end-of-life transitions
Learning Outcome: By the end of the program, Participants will enhance their knowledge about managing complex care situations and describe ways to support patients and families.
Faculty:
- Tamara Vesel MD
- Kristen Scanlon, MSN AGPCNP, ACHPN
- Mary K Kazanowski, APRN, ACHPN, PhD, CHPN
- Kim Skehan, RN, MSN, COS-C

This is a four-part course. All four courses are required to earn the certificate. You do not have to sign up for all four courses at once. The four courses can be taken in any order.
DESCRIPTION: This innovative online certificate program is designed to explore the various components necessary to develop and run simulation scenarios within an academic or clinical setting.
WHO: Any nurse practicing in an education role who is interested in developing or working in a simulation program. This would be applicable to nurse educators in academia or healthcare facilities, preceptors, mentors, or staff nurses who are interested in learning more about this teaching pedagogy.
WHY: The content will provide the nuts and bolts of simulation to include how to assess educational needs, develop, implement and evaluate simulation experiences.
WHAT: In order to receive this 60-hour certificate (equal to 60 contact hours), completion of the four modules is required. Each module is 15 contact hours and is taught in an online format: 6 hours virtual live webinar, 9 hours online utilizing discussion boards and case studies, and required reading over the course of 4 weeks in an asynchronous manner.
Module 3: Desiging and Implementing Simulation Scenarios
Topics: nursing education simulation framework incorporating roles of facilitator and participant, educational practices, simulation outcomes and design characteristics.
Learning Outcome: Upon successful completion of this module, the participant will be able to discuss the important components of simulation design and important aspects to consider for simulation scenario implementation in both the hospital and academic settings
Agenda for Live Day:
- Session 1: Components of the NLN/Jeffries Simulation Theory and the INACSL Standards for Best Practice: Simulation Design
- Session 2: Fidelity in Simulation: The physical, conceptual, and psychological components of fidelity
- Session 3: The constructs of participant, facilitator, and educational practices as they relate to simulation scenario design and implementation
- 4 weeks of Readings and Discussion Board Posts and Responses on the Canvas LMS platform
September 30- October 27, 2026, live virtual webinar on September 30, 2026
