Please join the Center for Ethics in Society on October 3rd, as Dr. Annabel Beerel examines the role of courage in both institutional and personal life. 

We begin with a discussion of the escalation of corporate crime over the past five years, the scale of employee involvement and the consequences to both individuals and society. This follows with an exploration into how courage is commonly understood, and why so many people were and are complicit in blatantly unethical behavior. What inhibits or detracts them from taking the courageous path of not engaging in ethical misdemeanors and/or whistleblowing? Through discussions and case studies we examine why we struggle to be courageous and wherein lie the major inhibitors.
 
The event will conclude with a discourse on a normative framework for defining courage and with examples of how we can strengthen our own capacities for courage.

The New Hampshire Institute of Politics & Political Library at Saint Anselm College will host the Lesser-Known Candidate Forum. The forum will begin promptly at 4 p.m. with the Democratic candidates taking the stage first, followed by the GOP candidates at 5:30 p.m.  

The Lesser-Known Candidate Forum has taken place since 1972, providing an opportunity for each candidate to present his or her position and gain valuable voter-recognition before the January 23, 2024 primary election date.

Join us on April 24th for “Leadership, the Social Compact, and the Future of Work,” a conversation with national bestselling author James Rhee and Amanda Grappone. This event is hosted in partnership with the Center for Ethics in Society and the Gregory J. Grappone Humanities Institute.

In kindergarten, James Rhee received a toy red helicopter in gratitude for a simple act of generosity—sharing his lunch. The Laisser Faire Fashion Show encompasses the talent and endless creative genius of students here in the Men of Color Club. The completely student-run project in collaboration with various campus-wide organizations, and neighboring institutions such as SNHU and Umass Lowell. The Laisser Faire experience includes 52 models from various backgrounds and 13 clothing brands from all parts of the United States. The Laisser Faire experience will set the standard of what a club can do.
