4:00 pm EDT - 5:00 pm EDT

Join us for an engaging conversation with Jane E. Young '86, who served as the United States Attorney for the District of New Hampshire from May 2, 2022, to January 17, 2025. The event will be moderated by Liana Pennington, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Saint Anselm College.

Before becoming the chief federal law enforcement officer for New Hampshire, Jane Young was the Deputy Attorney General for the New Hampshire Department of Justice. In this role, she led a dedicated team of approximately 170 professionals, including lawyers, investigators, paralegals, medical experts, and support staff. In addition to her managerial duties, she played a critical role in overseeing complex investigations and prosecuting high-profile cases, such as public integrity crimes and homicides.

Throughout her distinguished 30-year career at the New Hampshire Department of Justice, Young held numerous leadership positions, including Director of the Division of Public Protection, Chief of the Criminal Justice Bureau, and Chief of the Drug Unit. She began her legal career as an Assistant County Attorney in the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office. Young earned her Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Anselm College.

Liana Pennington is a member of the Saint Anselm College faculty, specializing in criminal law, criminal procedure, police surveillance and cyber law. Her research blends socio-legal studies and criminal justice, with a particular focus on the impact of low trust in the criminal justice system.
