Laptop Support Program
Saint Anselm College provides limited support for any computing platform a student brings to campus. We support Apple systems (Mac), Windows systems (PC), the plethora of mobile tablet and slate devices, as well as most smart phones. Our support is limited in that we will not open the cases of computers as doing so may invalidate factory warranties that were purchased with the computer. We will assist in installation of software, troubleshooting, network connectivity and usage of any of the basic software packages supported by the College (Microsoft Office Suite, standard browsers, etc.). Students simply come to the IT Help Desk in the Learning Commons of the Library.
Computing recommendations vary based on the program of study a student wishes to pursue and individual computing needs.
We suggest a minimum of an i5 processor and 8GB of RAM (memory). Hard drive capacity is dependent on usage. For graphics intensive work, we suggest larger hard drives and more RAM. If speed is paramount and storage capacity less important, we suggest a solid state drive (SSD). Most laptops today come with WiFi cards but it can't hurt to double check.
Technology Training Program
The Office of Information Technology conducts the Saint Anselm College Technology Training Program for faculty and staff. Upcoming courses will include some of the products in the Microsoft Office 2016 Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Depending upon demand, we may also offer training on Adobe Acrobat and other courses.
Please visit our Instructional Technology Workshops page for more information about training.
