MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Kyle Maurice(Exeter, N.H.) of the Saint Anselm College baseball team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division Player of the Year, announced by the league on Wednesday.

Maurice also grabs one of the outfield spots on the All-Conference First Team with junior Mike Borrelli(Salisbury, Mass.) earning First Team honors in the catcher spot.

Maurice becomes just the second Saint Anselm student-athlete to receive the Player of the Year plaudits and is the first Player of the Year since Robert Kelly '13 in the 2011 season to collect the honor.

Saint Anselm has not had multiple First Team honorees since the 2006 season when now Head Coach Jerod Edmondson'06 and Ryan Williams garnered the accolades.

Maurice closed his senior season with a .396 batting average which leads the Hawks and ranks third in the NE10. That batting average is also third best in a Saint Anselm single season. Maurice slugged 14 home runs which leads the conference and is second most in team annals. Maurice crossed the plate 45 times and drove in 48 runs which ranks third in both categories. The senior recorded 63 hits which is tied for second in the conference.

Maurice compiled a 16-game hitting streak this season, going 31-for-62 (.500) on the streak which started in game one of a doubleheader against Assumption on Mar. 27 and ended against Saint Michael's on Apr. 23. Maurice slugged three home runs in game two of the Hawks doubleheader against American International on May 6, missing just a three-run home run for the home run cycle. Maurice also drove in eight runs in that contest.

In two seasons of play in a Hawks uniform, Maurice slashed .355/.701/.458 with 89 hits. He scored 73 runs with 15 doubles, 24 home runs, and 81 runs batted in. Maurice's 24 homers are second most in a career on the Hilltop.

Borrelli ranked second on the team in 2022 with a .325 batting average. He collected 50 hits with 26 of them going for extra bases on 12 doubles, four triples, and 10 home runs. The junior scored 37 runs while driving in 31. Borrelli's 50 hits were second on the Hawks this season while his doubles and homers were second on the team. He led Saint Anselm in triples and was third in runs scored while ranking fifth in runs batted in.

Borrelli tied a program record with five hits in a single game against Assumption on Mar. 27. In game one of the doubleheader against American International, the junior slugged three home runs including the walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. He also drove in five runs in that contest. Borrelli started in 41 games this season.

In his Hilltop career, Borrelli is batting .316 with 90 hits in 285 at-bats. He has scored 61 runs while driving in 58 with 20 doubles, five triples, and 16 home runs in 75 games played, all of which he has started in.

The duo helped the Hawks to their second consecutive NE10 postseason appearance, the first time the program has done that since the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Saint Anselm registered 22 wins in 2022 which is sixth most in a single season and the most since the 2012 season.
