Dear Members of the Saint Anselm College Community,

As you know, President Steven R. DiSalvo announced he will be resigning as our college’s president at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year. Upon learning of President DiSalvo’s decision, Abbot Mark Cooper and I appointed Trustees Geraldine DeLuca ’77 and Charles Crowley ’81 to lead the search committee for our next president. The four of us interviewed several search firms and we are pleased to announce that Isaacson, Miller has been selected to assist the College’s search. Isaacson, Miller is the nation’s largest higher education executive search firm focused on mission-driven organizations. They have recruited senior leaders for numerous Catholic institutions including Georgian Court University, University of Dayton, Loyola University Chicago, University of San Francisco, Creighton University, College of the Holy Cross, Xavier University and Saint Anselm College. For a summary of Isaacson, Miller’s experience, you may follow this link:

Abbot Mark and I considered and assembled members of the Presidential Search Committee.  We carefully reviewed several very qualified Cabinet members, alumni, parents, faculty members, staff, students, community representatives, Trustees and monks. We are especially grateful to those who volunteered or put forth nominations. The outpouring of individuals who were seeking to serve or who were nominating others to assist us was humbling, and demonstrates how special our college is in the hearts of so many and how important this process is to all of us. The decision was therefore challenging, with a goal of insuring a balance of interests and maintaining a certain, workable size. We also collaborated with Isaacson, Miller to insure an appropriate make-up of the Committee for a search of this type. After much careful consideration, Abbot Mark and I are pleased to announce the following individuals who have agreed to serve on the Presidential Search Committee:

To initiate the process, the consultants from Isaacson, Miller will be spending several days on campus in November and December (prior to the Christmas break) meeting with faculty, staff, students, members of the administration, and members of the President’s Cabinet as well as conducting several open community sessions to better understand our institution and the challenges and opportunities our campus is likely to encounter moving forward. These gatherings will be announced shortly, and the logistics will be coordinated by Neil Levesque, Chief of Staff of Saint Anselm College. After this initial input, the search firm, in conjunction with the Committee, will begin preparing the position profile which will be a tool to evaluate the skills and expertise of candidates interested in serving as our next President.

Over the next several days, the Presidential Search Committee will be discussing the upcoming meetings and parameters of the search process with representatives from Isaacson, Miller, including the timeline, outreach and the type of search we will conduct to attract the best possible candidates to lead our college forward.

I will continue to provide updates as the search process unfolds. Thank you for your support in this important endeavor for Saint Anselm College.
