Upgrades to ATLA Databases

August 9, 2018

ATLAsquare.pngGeisel Library has long subscribed to content created by ATLA (American Theological Library Association), a professional association that creates core databases for religious and theological study. This summer we upgraded some of our ATLA databases, strengthening Saint Anselm College’s access to religious and theological research.

To begin, we upgraded our ATLA Religion subscription to ATLA Religion Database with ATLA Serials Plus. This upgrade contains all of the indexing that was in the discontinued Catholic Periodical and Literature Index (CPLI) as well as 330 full text journals and bibliographic access to over 2,220 journals. This upgrade makes this database one of the library’s core theological research databases.

We also added ATLA Historical Monographs Series 2 to our collection, which complements our ATLA Historical Monographs Series I collection. Series 2 contains over 14,880 monographs published between 1894 and 1922. This collection provides a broad view of the changing landscape of religion in America at the end of a century of dramatic cultural and political change. It presents a comprehensive picture of American life at a time that saw a rise in missionary activity and evangelical Christianity and the emergence of the historical critical method – the foundation for all twentieth-century biblical scholarship.

We hope you enjoy the increased access to religious and theological research.
