Believe it or Not: Reconciling Beliefs: Still Running Towards Forgiveness Ten Years After the Boston Marathon Bombing

April 18, 2023 | Roger & Francine Jean Student Center

Robert O’Donnell, SAC ’16 (BA Biology), in the wake of the trauma he experienced as a freshman Saint Anselm runner during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, resolved to run a marathon on all seven continents. Bobby will reflect upon the lessons he has learned since the 2013 bombing.

Booby currently works as a flight paramedic at DHART at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. His various experiences across the globe and the good people he met wherever he traveled, restored his love of running and helped him work through PTSD. Bobby discovered in his quest the important positive correlation that exercise and nature have on mental health, and chronicled his experiences and reflections in a book called Running Wild, A Quest for Healing Across 7 Continents. A formal response to Bobby’s reflections will be offered following his presentation.
