Saint Anselm Partners For First Colleges of the Queen City Day of Service
March 14, 2018
With over 25,000 students, faculty, and staff combined across six colleges, Manchester is the largest center of higher education in New England outside Boston. A new partnership, called the Colleges of the Queen City, between Saint Anselm College, the University of New Hampshire at Manchester, the New Hampshire Institute of Art, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), and Manchester Community College, will explore how all of these institutions might work together in the future.
As the inaugural collaboration, the presidents of all the Manchester colleges elected to join together in service with the community. April 6 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. will be the first ever Colleges of the Queen City Day of Service. This volunteer event will allow students, faculty and staff across the Manchester colleges to have a tangible and visible impact at community nonprofits. Granite United Way and Campus Compact are providing support for online application and placement, as well as t-shirts. Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig and other local dignitaries will also participate.
There will be multiple service sites (both indoor and outdoor) across the city with different types of projects scheduled for the day. “I look forward to continuing our strong Anselmian tradition of service along with our fellow Manchester college on April 6,” said President Steven R. DiSalvo in an email invitation to the campus community today.
The college’s goal is to marshal as many as 150 volunteers for the event. Online sign-up will begin next week and details will be forthcoming. Please reach out to Dan Forbes at firstname.lastname@example.org or one of the committee members with event or participation questions.
