Opportunities abound for the campus community to enjoy and to be involved with the performing arts at Saint Anselm College.
Student Performance Groups
Anselmian Abbey Players
The Anselmian Abbey Players, the Saint Anselm College drama group, regularly offers plays and musicals throughout the year and offers students an excellent opportunity to participate in and to learn all phases of theatre production. Typical annual productions include the Family Weekend show, a night of one act plays, a spring semester musical, and scenes from Shakespearian plays.
The Jazz Band promotes the study of the art of music in the most professional way possible, motivating the individual members in all musical fields, specifically jazz. The organization seeks to stimulate interaction among students and faculty through both formal and informal performances.
Saint Anselm College Choir
The Saint Anselm College Choir, the College’s official choral group, is one of the most-loved activities on campus. The student auditioned group practices on Mondays and Wednesdays and sings at the Sunday 7 p.m. liturgy every week of the school year, as well as on special occasions. The choir performs two concerts each year: DecemberSong (an Advent-Christmas program), and the spring concert in April.
Dana Center Practice Rooms
Students have access to 8 individual practice rooms, each equipped with a Yamaha upright piano. Each of the classrooms has a grand piano, and an electronic pedal organ is available for students to practice on.
Piano Lab and Recording Studio
The Dana Center houses a piano lab equipped with 15 electronic pianos. The music recording studio is outfitted with two computer stations, one running Pro Tools and the other running Finale. (Both Finale and Sibelius are available in the music lab in South Alumni Hall.)
Dana Center for the Humanities
The Dana Center stage is home to our Anselmian Abbey Players and also features visiting entertainment throughout the year.
