Ann Holbrook

I teach survey and special topics courses in nineteenth and twentieth-century British literature, Freshman English, Advanced Composition, Introduction to Literary Studies, and Senior Seminar. I also teach in the Conversatio program.

I specialize in twentieth-century British literature and literature by women writers, particularly the prolific journalist and novelist Rebecca West. I am President of the International Rebecca West Society. I have edited and analyzed some of West's posthumously published fiction and published articles on Edna O'Brien, Virginia Woolf, Mary Lavin, Dorothy L. Sayers, Anita Brookner, Henry James, and Edith Wharton. I have also written introductions for the Barnes and Noble edition of West's The Return of the Soldier, as well as for Ruth Doan MacDougall's New Hampshire-set quintet The Cheerleader, Snowy, Henrietta Snow, The Husband Bench, and A Born Maniac.
